Review: Mistborn: The Final Empire

Mistborn: The Final Empire
Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fun read; like Ocean’s 11 meets Dune.

My takeaways from reading this book: When an author makes a promise to the reader through the plot, they have to come through on that promise. When this is delayed and then realized through an unexpected angle, it can be a really rewarding read (but it’s tricky).
Furthermore, magic systems, when they affect the world and impact the plot make the story much more satisfying. It was obvious that Sanderson spent a considerable amount of time on developing the magic system and it was time well spent. (Thank you)
Finally, when a main character has a conflict that if resolved will lead to problems with teammates it creates emotionally compelling scenes.
